Democrats need to just do a carve out for the filibuster for voting/civil rights reforms. Manchin and Sinema need to be controlled. Manchin KNOWS he can’t get 10 republicans to stand behind voting rights reform. Dems need to go all in and forget trying to work with republicans at all. Put everything they want in the bills and pass it with 51 votes.

I look forward to reading your words as the Leviathan comes down. It should be a kick. I noticed you guys didn’t mention jobs numbers or the Durham investigation. Spygate, Chinagate, Hunters Laptop and all the voter fraud in swing states! January 6th was Lexington and Concord! It was the shot heard round the world. A day when Patriots stormed the castle to demand a redress of grievances from their government.

I think the elephant that isn't being discussed here is the politics of FEAR. When you scare the beejeebers out of people, then set yourself up as their only hope for survival - or democracy's only hope for survival - and they will vote their fears. They will vote for the "strongman" most likely to keep the boogieman away from their families.
How we get away from the cesspool of the politics of FEAR is anyone's guess. Obviously, presenting sunny and positive outcomes isn't doing it. People are still convinced that they can't celebrate Christmas, they'll be persecuted cuz they're Christian, They'll be tracked and sent to FEMA camps if they get vaccinated, or some other ridiculous nonsense. They're still SCARED.
When it comes down to a choice between their continued existence, the safety of their families, and they supposed "rights," people will vote and support the guys who claim to be their saviors. Good luck convincing them otherwise.
In addition to a weak and fractious Democratic opposition to fascism, we have a comically inept leader in Schumer, an inability of Democratic lawmakers to provide coherent pro-democracy messaging, a corporate opposition to democracy reform and immigration that will accelerate their own downfall, a media culture that refuses to face the enormity of the danger and thus hastens their own decline, and an electorate that, by and large, doesn't see a future worth fighting for (massive and growing income inequality, weekly climate catastrophes, a near-collapse supply chain, a broken public health model, massive disinformation destroying families and killing 2K/day, the de-legitimization of SCOTUS with the attendant decline of civil rights). Yes, I'm even more pessimistic about the future than Mr. Klaas.
