So, it sounds like all the 1/6 cohorts were well-schooled in how to use the Constitution for protection in their attempt to stop the peaceful transition of power. We are hoisted on our petard: Free Speech.

I am not so sure they will fail the next time. They see that even the MTG's of the world can say anything, do anything without any real consequences.

UGH.

"I don't remember. is the go-to defense in the Republican party. I call it the Jeff Sessions defense.

I was a NY Supreme Court clerk for a decade. "I don't recall" is the more acceptable way of lying under oath because no one can prove you can't remember.

And yes, I fully understand that these politicians aren't stupid. They have big staffs advising them. People don't understand that it's not like the movies where people are prosecuted on a small amount of evidence. It was easy to understand why Trump wasn't prosecuted in either of his two impeachments - let's face it, presidents are just not held accountable. The burden of proof is the absolute highest, whether they're still in office or not. Trump will never be prosecuted - for anything. I still, in fact, think Garland doesn't want the ignominy of prosecuting a former president in politically contentious times.

I'm wondering if she recalled/remembered anything. Did she only recall/remember things that wouldn't prove her guilt?
