Great read. Highlighting all the worn out debunked theories like video games, pot etc as the cause while comparing our numbers to other countries was excellent. “Normal” people don’t commit mass murder but politicians always blaming the cause on mental health is ridiculous

Greetings from ten minutes as the crow flies from where the Highland Park shooting took place. If you've seen ever watched a John Hughes movie, you may know what it's like up here -- it's called the Mayberry of Chicago. A now, among the others, we have two year old child in our community who lost both of his parents at a holiday parade and devastated families whose lives will never be the same.

Sadly, nothing surprises me anymore, but fortunately never to the point that I can let go of the notion that we are helpless to do something about it. Hope can often bypass the truth, but we have to have it if we're going to address this uniquely American problem.

“This is major legislation that has passed” no it isn’t. Pretending that it is for some symbolic reason doesn’t change the facts. It’s a ploy by the Republicans to pretend like “bipartisanship” is necessary. Get back to me in a couple years where we’ll see this “law” has amounted to bupkis.
